Amy mentioned that Matt doesn't grow all the pumpkins for pumpkin season, that a fellow farmer also helps out. I was suspicious about that on my last trip to the farm as part of the pumpkin field looked like it had not even been planted. There was grass growing on the east side of the field where they had the hay pyramid and pony rides.

I am sure Matt runs out of pumpkins with the thousands of people that come now from around the world. He needs help from somebody and it's not Fred Meyers:lol: place.

In fact, given the mysteriously missing signs this year, I'm pretty sure that TWO other local farmers decided to pool with him and sell their pumpkin crop at the Roloffs in 2009. Anyway, two other fields that I pass on my way to the Roloffs didn't have signs up or people taking money- but had obviously grown pumpkins from the debris left in their fields.

No, those were Roloff signs. I was thinking more of a couple of other farms that used to be open during pumpkin season, but now aren't.

There are TONS of farms doing pumpkins in Oregon that are open every fall, the Roloffs isn't even close to the largest. I'd have to say the largest I've seen is Bauman Farms down near Woodburn- 3x the acreage of the Roloffs, and they've also got a full fruit stand that is open from May to November, and they do school tours of their cider house (only HYDRAULIC cider press I've ever seen- you've got to be wearing a raincoat to stand next to it, they must waste about 10% of the juice just from it flying around the room).
