I agree the majority of the pop and hiphop/rap that gets airplay today is awful. But I was never into the big hair, butt rock bands of the 80's either.
I'm more of an indie folk rock fan myself.
'80's bands I did like : The Cars, The Police, INXS, Split Enz, The Cure, Crowded House, Squeeze, Talking Heads, Ramones, REM.............I'm sure there are more.

I still own Rolling Stones records, Beatles, Kinks, The Who, The Byrds, The Monkees, Dylan too. Yes, RECORDS, original vinyl. Some of you youngun's will have to Google that.
